In 2018, we escaped an indifferent commuter town where life was cramped and hurried, in search of a life by the sea- somewhere to grow, create, explore and flourish. We dreamt of adventures right on the doorstep, windswept beaches, legends, open skies and salty air.
A place where we could reconnect with family values and our true selves.
Southerndown is where we discovered our yellow farmhouse surrounded by fields and the edge of the sea. A small Welsh village vibrant in summer hosting day trippers and holiday makers looking for sun and sand, a cosy sanctuary in winter with walks to blow out the cobwebs and a place by the fireside to warm up after.
Dancing Stones was the former stables, rebuilt as the reverse wing of the Georgian house. Over the years we have curated our holiday cottage, as a special place where you can find that adventure, connection, and make family memories. We hope you find a sense of homecoming, just as we did, waiting at the bend of the road to the sea.
Find all you need to start your Welsh adventure here.
You can run away to the sea with your love, your family, your friends, and even bring the dog.
Our self-catering holiday cottage is an ‘upside down’ house with an airy open space on the upper floor looking out over the fields.
There’s a full kitchen, basic provisions to get you started, stocked woodburner, all linens including beach towels and a washing machine to deal with the laundry after the sand and sea.
There’s plenty to help you plan day trips, or simply to relax with a bath or book. Make the most of your time outdoors with the enclosed private garden, there’s ample seating.
Despite the countryside setting we are well connected with a prime location with parking, near the M4, Cardiff, Cardiff airport and a local bus service bringing you almost to the door.
